Entering the Hradcany was changing gears; we were running on high from the excitements of the trip and the ever present, irresistible history of Prague. Now we slowed down, yearning to stay in the moment, stopping time. This place was light and precious, a restaurant that felt more like a tastefully decorated winter garden, but with antique furnishings. "The colors of walls and drapes would make HGTV (Home & Garden, Simone's favorite TV station) green with envy," mumbled Simone. She fell in love with the lusciously upholstered pink booth benches, where the green trees in the windows matched the colors of the carpet. This is a picture book dining room.
Joseph Stangl is a class act, a charming and caring chef whose talents we got to cherish and shall not forget. Trained in the old school of cooking, he had learned his art from the scratch. He hand selected the tasting menu for us, featuring the flavors of this great culture. The Tuna Carpaccio was thrilling to our internationally spoiled taste buds. The Chicken Drumstick Infused with Poultry Mousse is not to be missed. This creation is a must-have and should be supported by a glass of buttery, rich Czech chardonnay, so as to flatter this masterful design. A job well done. Thorsten Piosczyk & Josef Stangl

The wine menu was selected for the taste of the traditional connoisseur, representing a few international bottles perfectly priced for the most discriminating diner. The delicious homemade desserts were the grand finale. Stangl's performance at the table was quite dramatic and the service at this fine institution was most attentive, though a little understaffed that evening. Our waiter was patient, ever advising and well trained. Overall, a great dining experience.
As the early evening light faded, candles were lit almost magically, and the romantic mood was mirrored in the eyes of the dining couples.
