The Drake - New York
swissôtel THE DRAKE NEW YORK
New York, USA receives
4 Stars and 5 Stripes
Merit - Extraordinary
4 Stars and 5 Stripes
Hotel & Service

The Ultimate Award:
Seven Stars and Stripes ™
New York City is all the things we thought that the Big Apple would be. We were pretty exhausted after a long strip with the Porsche Cayenne; traffic in the city is what it is, simply exhausting. But the city that never sleeps, action packed, noisy, beautiful, breathtaking, and exciting demanded that we wouldn't get too much of that, sleep, that is. NYC is as diverse as its people; rude & caring, excessive, and ever changing. NYC is a great and interesting place to visit, with a whole bunch of fun and history. The energy we felt as we were getting closer to Park Avenue was on super high and almost vibrating. Our destination hotel, the European Swissôtel The Drake, was relatively calm in comparison and they were definitely prepared for the arriving spoiled masses.
It was amazing to find that the front desk personnel still smiled with all the check-in traffic, still running smooth and well directed. Later we would get to meet the man who makes it all happen. The Drake New York is an easy accessible, comfortable, elegant and well-appointed hotel located on Park Avenue at 56th Street with particularly fine meeting facilities, just a block from Madison Ave. and five blocks from Central Park. The hotel is within walking distance of Bloomingdale's, Hugo Boss, Bergdorf Goodman and other of Simone's favorite Fifth Avenue shops. Foster Burnett & Thorsten Piosczyk

With 'only' 500 rooms and about a hundred and ten suites, the flag ship is considered a smaller hotel for NYC standards. The Drake stands for rock solid New York City history, combined with 21st century technology. This gracious hotel is a monolith towering over Park Avenue since 1929. The lustrous grand main lobby sets the tone with its 'fresh' contemporary look, combining warmer woods, marble and Murano glass (see custom designed light fixture) with opulent fresh flower arrangements and plants.

Our accommodations were gracious and spacious, equipped with all that matters to satisfy us, the contemporary world travelers: 24-hour room service and high-speed wireless Internet for me, that is. The room designer blended classic and contemporary styles with ease…
…preferring rich and vibrant colors, featuring a large work desk for my Acer and an additional comfortable seating area for Simone. Elegant plush terry robes for fun and even an umbrella for rainy days were thoughtfully placed in the closet. The queen-sized bed was very comfortable and the down comforter warm and cozy, no sound to be heard. We overslept.
During a sumptuous breakfast the next morning we met GM David Gibbons more accidentally while he was inquiring about our well-being. He had welcomed us with a radiant smile and a handshake that Simone shall not forget, reflecting a well managed hotel and tribute to understated Swiss elegance and service. The Drake - Dining

The state-of-the-art spa and work out facilities are open to the public and so is Q56, the Drake's scene restaurant. SEX AND THE CITY® is the feeling in this restaurant with pale blue lights over the wooden bar, directing the play of beige on grey with dots of bold colors here and there attracting a modern crowd. Q56 also features an exceptional international wine list, a true testament to its European roots.

Good Harbor - Welcome card designed after an original painting by David Gibbons:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Piosczyk,

Welcome to Swissôtel The Drake, New York.

We are delighted to have you with us and hope you will
enjoy your stay.

The elegant pool and spa facilities and sumptuous breakfast buffet at the EssTisch the next morning is alone worth the stay. The accommodations we had booked turned out to be a tastefully furnished junior suite with views over a park that was expertly kept...

Yanqi Lake Hotel
Just a half hour from Beijing is a place like no other. A place where the sky is wide and the business of the throbbing city becomes distant and unreal. Yanqi Lake, located on the foothills of the stunning Yanshan Mountains and surrounded by a diversity of picturesque trees, is the place where...

Burj Al Arab
Our arrival at Burj Al Arab was of true Seven Star style. Four lovely hostesses and a host welcomed us in the tradition of Jumeirah - with warm smiles, cold towels, Arabian coffee, sweet dates and chilled rosewater. Much has been written about the decorative style of Burj Al Arab...
