With took of from Charles De Gaulles Paris with Air Mauritius. Our destination - The Oberoi Mauritius located in the year-round vacation destination island of Mauritius. Air Mauritius is drawn to offer exquisite service to exotic vacation destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Cape Town, Perth and many others with Heathrow, London as its prime European base, and is represented on many other international European airports. With almost a twelve-hour non-stop ahead of us, traveling 1st class with 'L'Esprit de l'Ile Maurice' (the Soul of Mauritius), we felt at ease. This Mauritian national carrier, the representative airline for the country, was founded in 1967 and is servicing close to a million passengers today. It is astonishing considering that this vacation county has a population of close to 1,300,000. Air Mauritius has its national home base in Port Louis, the capital city that proudly carries the AM symbol, the mythological bird the Phaeton Rubicola, commonly known as the Paille-en-Queue. Check in was easy, pleasant and quick although the hospitality suite in Paris lacks the traditionally great customer service of the country or its European flagship base in London.
“The in-flight cuisine, presentation and service were above and beyond.” ~ TB
On board our flight attendant addresses us in perfect English, the official language of Mauritian but supposedly almost everyone speaks and reads French in the country of our destination. The on-board entertainment system was simple but sufficient. The in-flight cuisine, presentation and service were above and beyond. The menu was presented in a tasteful leather & fabric bound book, carrying the embroidered mythological bird logo. Crossing the Alps by car is too easy compared to this. If you want to get a big kick out of these amazing mountains, you've got to seem them form above. Witnessing a picture so prefect as the Alps from so high that day, kept my adrenaline pumping. An unforgettable view.

We were started with a choice of delicious canapés followed by a choice of pre-plated hors d'oeuvres. The main courses were then freshly assembled from an open buffet tray-cart and served on elegant, fine china - we truly enjoyed the shelled lobster and the honey glazed duck breast - followed by a selection of international cheeses, fruit basket and delicious desserts. All meals were presented with the outmost attention to detail and superb service while paired with inspiring aperitifs, a sparkling Cuvee and international wines,(some vintage). An assortment of digestives were offered. Very well done!
Air Mauritius - First Class - Cuisine We landed on this enchanted island and were welcomed by the rising sun. It was a smooth landing, executed by a pro. I'll never forget the moment the airplane door opened; it felt as if a blast of wonderful warm air swept through the cabin, the first sight of huge palm trees, the powerful sweet smell of tropical flowers and the incredibly green hills - the perfect paradise of my mind, here for all to see. It was a breeze to get through customs and soon enough we were in our limo. It all came together in a visitor friendly environment.
